Message for Karole:  Karole, We've had company and been out of town and when I'm finally back to the usual schedule, I don't see you anywhere... and as I feared, you are retiring. I'm thrilled for you, but sad for all of us viewers and your co-workers.
You always did an amazing job and I know that some of the news you had to report was hard, extremely hard to report, but you somehow always managed to power through. Why am I remembering all the awful stories now, well, I'm sure you have lots of stories for your kids and grand kids and I hope you have a wonderful retirement.
Thanks for a caring, but professional, job - and sharing a little of yourself with all us viewers,
Ed Montgomery and Deb LaJeunesse

Message for Karole:  Congrats Karole! Job and career well done! As the new kid that first day at Gooding High School in the spring of 1973 you were the first student that I met and you were so nice and made me feel welcome when I was an anxious and sad teenager that had just moved from his lifelong home and school. Best to you always!

Message for Karole:  You’re a classy lady. I enjoyed our visit together one afternoon several years ago working with you as we tried several times to pass the D 93 high school bond. I respect you and think you’re fabulous.

Message for Karole:  We have enjoyed watching the news with you for so many years. You will definitely be missed.
Your dedication to journalism has been an example for so many people. You have shared so many great stories, some special and happy stories and some heart breaking stories, but everything you did was with true professionalism.
Enjoy your retirement and time spent with your family and grandkids.
You will be missed Karole.

Message for Karole:  The news will not be the same without you. Your style of reporting the facts in an interesting, informative way without pronouncing your take on it for everyone to agree with is fast going out of style.
Thanks for the impact you’ve had on our community!

Message for Karole:  We are surely going to miss you. You are the reason that we watch Channel 8 News. You are always so accurate and yet very genuinely nice. Enjoy your retirement.

Message for Karole:  Hey dear friend,
you have been welcome in my home for thirty years and I do think of you as a friend. I will miss you so very much. I never wondered how you felt about a story because your face, your eyes, or the tilt of your head, would give you away. You are the best at what you did because you made those of us, who were your audience, comfortable. Along with all of that you have the best sense of humor.
I appreciated your personal comments about stories, such as when the streets of shelly had such ginormous pot holes. I was often concerned about you leaving the channel 8 studio alone at 10:35 at night and I hoped that you would be safe on your journey home. I have loved who you are and what you have added to my life. There will be an emptiness in my heart and in my schedule at 5:00,6:00 and 10:00 pm. You are the best. I hope you enjoy many wonderful hours with Ken, the boys and the GRANDKIDS. Thanks Karole.
Just Jo

Message for Karole:  I have looked forward to watching you deliver our news for the past 30 years and 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 pm will just not be the same. Your sincere love of this area is one thing I'll miss amongst many. I first met you in person when you did a news story, many years ago, about women in unconventional careers. My husband and I were custom home builders and I was a carpenter working on the job. It was so exciting to actually meet a star! You were so professional yet made us both feel like we'd known you forever. While you could easily have moved on to any news anchor position I love that you were loyal to us here in Southeast Idaho. Best wishes for a fun filled retirement! I will truly miss seeing you daily.

Message for Karole:  What a privilege it’s been to watch you bring the news to this area for years. I’ve watched you for 20 yrs & it’s been such a blessing. You deserve to retire but it won’t be the same without you. First Jay now you. Should have guessed you’d go soon after a Jay. What a team you two have been. So there’s no one that can replace you but maybe we can say that person will “fill in”. You are unreplaceable. No way Jose. Geez, that’s not even a word. Oh my. Just know Karole you will be missed. You are loved by this community & it will not be the same without you but enjoy your retirement & get to know that hubby of yours. What memories you have but oh what memories you’ll make. Message for Karole:  Karole, you've been a part of my life for the past 30 years, like a trusted friend.
I'm a viewer from Jackson, and though I've always affectionately referred to Channel 8 as "Spud News", I've always been impressed with your professionalism and sense of humor (always a light touch and just enough). I'm still getting over Jay's retirement and now here you go too!
Congratulations - I wish you well! Have fun with those grand-babies and your family.
I'm sure going to miss you!

Message for Karole:  My dad is Elzo White who is a retired school superintendent. My dad said you were the best reporter and always fair. When situations came up and his school district or his name was brought up, he felt like you’d always report the facts and be fair with your reporting and platform. He loves you!! He talks about interviews with you he did every so often.

One time a few years back, my son was about first grade age, and we ran into you at the cupcake shop in Blackfoot. My son was star-struck and kept starring at you. You noticed and talked to him and said you were impressed a young kid even watched the news. He was thrilled and couldn’t wait to call my dad to report he’d just seen a celebrity and you’d talked to him!!
I’ve watched you on tv most of life! Congratulations on retirement and good luck in your next adventure!

Message for Karole:  Merlin and I moved back to this area 21 years ago. You and Jay became our favorite news team right away. Our personal association with you began when Merlin was Executive Director of the Blackfoot Area Chamber of Commerce. We always enjoyed seeing you whenever the occasion presented. Our favorite memory is the night you received the Modern Pioneer award from the Grove City Sons of Utah Pioneers. Hearing your experiences in the early days certainly showed that you deserved to be recognized as a pioneer in your field! (By the way, Merlin was the one who nominated you.) We want to wish you well in your retirement and hope you and Ken adjust to the 24/7 thing! We look forward to seeing you around town now and then. If you venture out to Moreland, look us up!

Message for Karole:  I was shopping for some new clothes for a new job and noticed Karole was watching me as I tried on a few items.

What she did next just proves she is an honest reporter on everything.

She came up to me and said “I don’t think you should get that blouse it really doesn’t look good on you at all.”
We chatted a bit, I didn’t get the blouse.

That was the time before cell phone cameras or I would have gotten a photo with her.

I’m going to miss watching Karole on the news but wish her all the best that retirement can bring. Good luck on your next chapter.

I have always enjoyed your broadcasts and special coverage of health topics. You have always presented information in a professional manner with no rumor mill stories and everything is well research. I have never had the courage to say Hi to you at the Fair gates until last year and then I blurted out something about you being so TALL ! So sorry but I am an admirer of all your major achievements through the years. Carry on with having fun in life. I may do the same retirement in a few years but I hope to see the end of COVID before I do.

First Jay & now you! You have been awesome! I have always loved how personable you are! I called the station several years ago about something that I wasn't happy about....you were the one that answered the phone! I was so surprised! You are an anchor, why would you be answering a phone call!!?? You were very kind & understanding & actually took the time to listen to what I was saying. Message for Karole:  Karole, say it isn't so! I thought you could do TV forever.
I recall that you first started your career when I was on the Pocatello City Council. Through the years, you have been helpful to me as a legislator -especially in helping people learn about human trafficking. (You even helped track two victims by announcing their disappearance on your show.)
You have always been the one I turned to to raise an issue or to find out more about an issue. Thanks so much for your dedication, hard work, and friendly demeanor.

Message for Karole:  Congrats on retiring. My hubby and I will miss you espcially since Jay just retired. I was wondring if something was going on as on Monday I had not seen you on the news for a bit at 10 so checked the web site to make sure you were still there and yes you were but then heard your announcement. Guess my antenna was up.

Anyway, our TV antenna only gets Local News 8 Idaho news (my satellite gets SLC) so we will miss your loving professionalism. Good Luck and pop in from time to time.

Message for Karole:  Congratulations Karole on a successful career and your pending retirement! You deserve it. Although my time working with you was brief, I appreciated your encouragement in my news writing abilities and ways I could improve in videography shooting and editing. While I did not pursue a career in broadcasting, my work at KIDK and KIFI taught me a great deal about critically evaluating the news and the need for balanced reporting.

Wishing you all the best!

Message for Karole:  Karole I was unhappy but not surprised to see the announcement of your retirement. My family & I have watched you since you started. You present the news in a professional manner from the perspective of a “real” person & that is a rare combination. No matter the news you always manage to sneak in a smile when we need it the most. You will be sorely missed & impossible to replace. Enjoy the days ahead. God bless & stay well??
